Laval arrived in Paris in 1912 at the Lapin Agile, he met Maurice Utrillo, with whom he sometimes works in the streets of Montmartre.
On 20 November 1913, he married at City Hall to Rachel Cohen.
In 1920, Laval present at the Salon d'Automne a composition "From Montmartre to Les Halles.
He works much in the Netherlands, where he painted the mills, particularly in the years 1927-28, and in Belgium ("the Port of Antwerp).
In 1963, Laval painted a picture of " the Collette" Renoir's home in Cagnes-sur-Mer.
His favorite subjects was taken in Montmartre, in the northern suburbs of Paris, the area and the ancient fortifications, the Canal Saint-Martin and Les Halles in Paris.
He fell oblivion after his death, and suudenly somebody get interested in his painting around 1988, when prices were soaring. At this time a record sale of more than $ 7,000 U.S at the same era, in 1986, scene of Montmartre again.
His early works are brighter than the past, treated with heavy paste composed of muted tones.
Less known are his landscapes, his bush and forest scenes and his still life.
Exhibited at Andre Roussard Sr gallery in Paris.
He died in 1966, abandoned by all his friends, at Laennec Hospital, Paris, assisted by his girlfriend, France de Retz, and nephew of the creator of the gallery, 7, rue du Mont Cenis, also representative of Maurice Utrillo.
