Norman Rockwell
Artiste peintre, illustrateur Américain, Norman Rockwell naquit à New York un 3 février 1894. Il décèda à Stockbridge le 8 novembre 1978. Norman Rockwell est célèbre pour ses couvertures de magazines qu’il réalise pendant plusieurs décennies pour le Saturday Evening Post. Son style est catactérisé par son réalisme et son humour particulier.
Norman Rockwell s'inscrit en 1908 à la Chase School of Fine and Applied Arts. En 1910, il laisse tomber ses études et entre à l'Art Students League of New York, là même ou bon nombre de nos peintres en galerie ont étudiés, Surrey,Borenstein etc, où il perfectionne sa technique auprès de George Bridgeman et Thomas Fogarty. À seize ans, Norman Rockwell illustrera son premier livre intitulé "Tell my why".
En 1916, Norman Rockwell propose sa première couverture pour le magazine The Saturday Evening Post. Il devient dès lors le peintre de l'Américain moyen et réalise les plus célèbres illustrations et couvertures de la revue jusqu'en 1960.
En 1935, il illustre les romans de Mark Twain, Tom Sawyer et Huckleberry Finn.

Painter, American illustrator, Norman Rockwell is born in New York, February 3, 1894. He died in Stockbridge on November 8, 1978. Norman Rockwell is famous for its covers of magazines which he works out during several decades for the Saturday Evening Post. His style is reknownable by his realism and his particular humour. Norman Rockwell registered in 1908 at the Chase School of fine arts . In 1910, it drops its studies and enters to the Art Students League of New York, where some of our famous painters in our gallery studied for a while, Surrey, Borenstein etc, place where he improves his technique under supervision of George Bridgeman and Thomas Fogarty. At sixteen years, Norman Rockwell will illustrate his first book titled " Tell me why". In 1916, Norman Rockwell proposes ihis first cover for the magazine The Saturday Evening Post. He consequently becomes the painter of the Average American and carries out the most famous illustrations and covers of the review till late 1960. In 1935, he also illustrated the novels of Mark Twain, Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn.
